Musikklisensiering

Musikklisensiering, translating to “music licensing” in English, refers to the process of acquiring permissions to use music in various forms, such as in videos, films, advertisements, or public performances. It involves legal agreements that grant rights to individuals or organizations to reproduce, distribute, or publicly perform specific pieces of music. Licensing is critical in ensuring that songwriters, composers, and musicians receive compensation for their work.

Music licensing can take the form of synchronization licenses, which allow music to be paired with visual media; mechanical licenses, which cover reproduction of a song; or public performance licenses, which permit the playing of music in public settings. The licensing process typically requires navigating copyright laws and may involve fees or royalties based on the usage of the music. It protects the intellectual property rights of music creators while providing a legal framework for others to use their music.
