Netto-null

Netto-null, or “net zero,” refers to the concept of balancing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere with an equivalent amount removed from it. This means that, overall, the total emissions produced by an entity, such as a country, company, or individual, are equal to the emissions removed through various means, including carbon capture technologies or natural processes like reforestation.

The goal of achieving net zero is to mitigate climate change by stopping the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which is deemed critical to prevent global warming beyond 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. To reach net zero, emissions reduction strategies often include transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and adopting sustainable practices across various sectors. Finally, it aims to create a sustainable balance that contributes to climate stability and ecological health.
